At the heart of our campaign is a commitment to serve our community. We’re dedicated to transparent governance, engaging every voice, and working towards positive change. Together, we can build a future that reflects our shared values and aspirations.
Tonight in LaPorte City at a Special Nominating Convention, delegates nominated me to be the Republican candidate for Iowa House District 76, the district vacated by (former) Representative Derek Wulf to join Zach Lahn’s gubernatorial campaign as his Lieutenant Governor running mate.
Many of you (bosses and/or boards of directors representing the various ministries I’m involved with: Cedar Falls Bible Conference, Christian Crusaders, Cedar Ridge Christian School, Nazareth Church) receiving this were aware that this might be coming. Some of you might not be (ministry partners and/or ministry colleagues within those organizations).
I kept this as quiet as I could while informing those “above me” whose permission I needed to pursue this, as it has been my intent from the beginning to continue serving in the ministry capacities I currently serve. I “kept this as quiet as I could” because there would have been no reason to make it more widespread than it needed to be if I were not to win the nomination.
The map for House District 76 is pasted below. Since it was first drawn / released (2021), Derek Wulf, the Republican candidate, has won by a margin of approximately 60% to 40% in 2022 and 2024.
I’ll be working with each ministry entity that I’m involved with to take measures to ensure that none of what I am responsible for suffers as a result of the upcoming campaign and potential service in the Iowa Legislature. More details on that will be available as they are known.
My personal commitment with regard to “bringing politics into ministry,” is that I will not use any of the ministry leadership platforms I hold to “talk politics” or promote my campaign or myself as a politician.
